Hydradenitis Suppurativa
-
If you've dealt with painful, recurring lumps or boils in areas like your armpits, groin, or under your breasts, we can help. Often people with HS have been told it's "just a bad ingrown hair" or an infection that keeps coming back. We want you to know that you’re not overreacting, and this is a real, treatable medical condition. We listen first, and build a treatment plan that takes your pain and your history seriously.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory condition that causes painful lumps, abscesses, and tunnels under the skin in areas where skin rubs together. This is most often the armpits, groin, buttocks, and under the breasts. HS can range from occasional flares to a daily, life-altering condition.

HS involves inflammation of hair follicles and sweat glands, with genetics, hormones, inflammation, and immune function all playing a role. It is not caused by poor hygiene, and it's not contagious. These misconceptions cause unfortunately delays for many people seeking care.

Treatment may include topical or oral antibiotics (used for their anti-inflammatory effect), hormonal therapy, topical steroids, biologic medications, or in-office procedures to improve inflammation fast. Different skin care products used at home can also help significant with decreasing the number of flares over time. Many lifestyle changes can also help a little with the underlying inflammation. We build a plan in stages, based on your severity and what you've already tried.

If you've had recurrent, painful bumps in the same areas, especially if you've been told repeatedly it's "just a boil", please come in. HS is often diagnosed late. Getting an accurate diagnosis early can prevent years of unnecessary pain and scarring.
